Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
This privacy policy explains how Real Salary (https://realsalary.co.uk) handles your personal data in compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR).
1. Data Controller
- Controller: Mottalib Radif
- Website: https://realsalary.co.uk
- Email: contact@realsalary.co.uk
The data controller is the person who determines the purposes and means of the processing of personal data, within the meaning of the UK GDPR.
2. Data Protection Officer
Given the nature of the website and the absence of large-scale processing of personal data, the appointment of a Data Protection Officer (DPO) is not legally required under Article 37 of the UK GDPR. For data protection enquiries, please contact the controller using the details above.
3. What Data We Collect
Short answer: almost nothing. All calculator inputs are processed entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript. We never see, store, or transmit your salary figures, tax codes, pension contributions, or any other financial information you enter into our calculators. The technical architecture is designed according to the principle of "privacy by design".
For clarity, the website does not collect or process the following categories of data:
- Financial data: salary, tax code, pension contributions, National Insurance number
- Identification data: name, address, phone number (unless voluntarily provided by email)
- Browsing data: tracking cookies, unique device identifiers
4. Analytics
We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics tool. Plausible does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, does not store IP addresses, does not use fingerprinting, and is fully compliant with UK GDPR, GDPR, CCPA, and PECR. This means no cookie banner is needed.
Plausible collects only aggregate, anonymous data: page views, referral sources, browser type, device type, and country. No individual visitors can be identified. Plausible processes all data on servers within the European Union. For more information: https://plausible.io/data-policy.
5. Cookies
We do not set any tracking cookies. No first-party cookies, no third-party cookies, no tracking cookies. User preferences (such as dark/light mode) are stored in the browser's localStorage, which is not a cookie and is never transmitted to our servers.
Our hosting provider Cloudflare may use a technical cookie (__cf_bm) for bot detection and DDoS protection. This cookie is strictly necessary for security, contains no personal information, expires after 30 minutes, and does not require consent under PECR.
6. Third-Party Services
This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may collect minimal technical data (IP address, request headers) as part of their CDN service. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Google Fonts may be loaded for typography. Google may collect standard web request data. See Google's privacy policy. This usage is based on our legitimate interest in a uniform presentation of our website.
We do not integrate any third-party services that profile users. There are no social media buttons, advertising widgets, remarketing services, or other tools that allow third parties to track users.
7. Server Log Files
Our hosting provider automatically collects and stores information in server log files, which your browser transmits. These include: browser type and version, operating system, referrer URL, hostname, time of request, and IP address (anonymised). This data is not merged with other data sources and is based on legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) UK GDPR). Server log files are automatically deleted after 30 days.
8. Legal Basis for Processing
Since no identifiable personal data is processed through the calculators, no specific legal basis is required under Article 6 of the UK GDPR. For the anonymous statistical data collected by Plausible Analytics and for server log files, the applicable legal basis is legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR).
9. Your Rights Under UK GDPR
Under the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018, you have the following rights:
- Right of access (Art. 15): obtain confirmation of whether personal data is being processed and access to that data.
- Right to rectification (Art. 16): obtain correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.

- Right to object (Art. 21): object to processing on grounds relating to your particular situation.
- Right to withdraw consent (Art. 7(3)): withdraw consent at any time.

Since we don't collect personal data through our calculators, most of these rights are satisfied by default. For any privacy-related questions, contact us at contact@realsalary.co.uk. We undertake to respond within 30 days.
10. Data Transfer Outside the UK
Cloudflare, our hosting provider, is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, ensuring compliance with data protection standards. Should it become necessary to use services outside adequate jurisdictions, the controller will ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.
11. Data Retention
Since no personal data is stored from calculator usage, no specific retention period applies. Server log files are automatically deleted after 30 days. Plausible Analytics data is aggregated and anonymous, falling outside the scope of UK GDPR provisions on personal data retention.
